How Vets Access Builds Safe, Durable, and Compliant Wheelchair Ramps

When a veteran needs a wheelchair ramp, they need more than just a piece of wood leading up to their porch—they need a safe, durable, and properly designed solution that meets their mobility needs. That’s where Vets Access comes in.
As a Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Business (SDVOSB), we specialize in providing high-quality, VA-compliant accessibility solutions. Our team ensures that every ramp we install is designed for safety, usability, and long-term durability—because getting in and out of your home should never be a struggle.

How We Design and Install Ramps for Veterans

Every ramp we install is customized to fit the specific needs of the veteran, their home, and their mobility device. Here’s how we do it:

1. We Start with a Site Assessment

Before we install any ramp, we visit the home to take detailed measurements and assess any potential challenges. We consider:
✅ Total rise from the ground to the entry point – This determines how long the ramp needs to be.
✅ Existing sidewalks and driveways – We make sure the ramp leads to a solid, accessible surface, not just a patch of grass.

✅ Obstructions like landscaping, stairs, or city sidewalks – If adjustments are needed, we plan accordingly.

2. We Use the Right Layout for Each Individual Home

Not every home has the space for a long, straight ramp. That’s why we design ramps that fit the specific property:
  • Straight Ramps – The simplest design, used when there’s a clear, direct path.
  • L-Shaped Ramps – Includes a 90-degree turn with a landing, perfect for smaller spaces.
  • Switchback Ramps – Includes multiple landings and turns, often used when there’s limited yard space or a higher rise.
No matter the configuration, we follow VA and ADA guidelines to ensure your ramp is easy to navigate and built for long-term safety.

3. We Use Durable, Low-Maintenance Materials

At Vets Access, we install ramps built to last. We use aluminum ramps because they:
  • Are rust-resistant and hold up well in all weather conditions.
  • Have a built-in slip-resistant surface for safety.
  • Require little to no maintenance compared to wood.
  • Can be installed quickly with minimal disruption.
We want veterans to have safe access to their homes without the hassle of frequent maintenance.

4. We Prioritize Safety and Accessibility

Our ramps include:
  • Handrails on both sides when the rise is greater than 6 inches.
  • Edge protection to prevent wheelchairs from rolling off.
  • Landing platforms for longer ramps, allowing users to rest or turn easily.
  • Slip-resistant surfaces to prevent falls, even in wet or icy conditions.
